Those of us paying attention to the gender debate will be familiar with the intense rhetoric and tactics directed towards anyone who dissents from the belief that "trans women are women." Death threats, intimidation, and acts of violence seem to be common within this movement.
On Sunday, many people marched through London for the 'Trans Pride' event. One particular speaker drew significant attention. You can watch the video below to see why:
The speaker is a trans-identified male and has apparently been identified as Sarah Jane Baker. They can be heard saying "if you see a TERF, punch 'em in the fucking face!".
A few points are worth noting here. Firstly, 'TERF' stands for 'trans-exclusionary radical feminist,' but it has become a derogatory term used to discredit anyone, usually women, who do not accept the notion that a man can become a woman. Therefore, when this biological man calls for violence against 'TERFs' on sight, he is essentially advocating violence against women.
Secondly, this is an individual that has previously been convicted of kidnapping and torture. However, what is most concerning in this video is the loud cheer from the crowd in response to the call for violence.
People often have a naïve and simplistic understanding of how historical violent fascism managed to rise unchecked. They envision it as the work of mustache-twirling villains who derive pleasure from deliberately committing evil acts.
In reality, it arises from everyday people who are so deeply entrenched in their own righteousness and convinced that they are fighting against evil, that they will reflexively support a man calling for violence against women simply because they hold a different opinion. None of this will be looked upon favourably in the future. It is important to take note of those who refuse to unequivocally condemn such calls for violence.
Thank you Stephen.
I struggle to understand what is really happening, despite reading and listening regularly - for several years.
It's easy to say the world has gone mad, but people are actually getting physically hurt already.
Not to mention the appalling perversion of the NHS towards trans propaganda: and the negligent tragedies perpetrated through unnecessary surgery as a result.
I don't see this fiasco has got anything to do with trans rights. I don't believe the majority of trans people agree with this behaviour. It's sheer misogyny by people who are violent, hateful and possibly ill.
The fact that violent offenders keep masquerading as pro trans people fuels the idea that trans people are perverts. This is not true.
Why oh why are the police not stopping this violent behaviour? Because it seems nobody cares about violence towards women.
Extreme trans activists are anti women and pretend they are the sex they appear to hate. Someone in power needs to have some guts and prosecute them.
I actually though he said "punch her in the f***ing face" which seems to undermine the Met's initial view that 'terf' is a general term and therefore not a protected characteristic under the EA.
