These young folks haven't lived under Muslims I hope they never have too they would die.

In a nutshell, American thought goes:

Religion is a good thing.

Islam is a religion.

Therefore Islam is a good thing.

Or, thinking about this, maybe it is:

Only white people have bad ideas.

Muslims are non-white.

Therefore Islamic ideas cannot be bad.

I seem to recall a great talking point was "since 2002 the majority of deadly attacks were carried out by 'the far right'

We'll just conveniently ignore the deaths of nearly 4000 people the year before to make our point.

I think the disasters of the Iraq and Afghanistan invasions don't help but that's for those who deal in simple body counts rather than what ideology has driven the acts of violence

It’s the certainty they have and the complete inability to accept there might be other reasonable views, even if they disagree. The inability to critically think is so depressing

Islamophobia - dislike of Islam. It’s not “muslimophopia”. Muslims are people. Islam is an idea. To rail against Islam isn’t racist.
